NUIT BLANCHE ALERT: MAPS AND ROUTE SUGGESTIONS

You’ve probably heard of Nuit Blanche, but how do you make sense of it? Please find three maps, carefully edited to provide you with the best possible experience of NB Toronto.

CLICK ON EACH MAP TO ENLARGE IT.

VoCA recommends that you begin Nuit Blanche in Yorkville. Start on Bloor street with a performance by Ulysees Castellano and then head in to Yorkville Park for a corn-roasting performance by Ron Benner. Cruise down University Ave, past the video against the Michael Lee Chin crystal at the ROM, the Michael Snow projection on the roof of the planetarium and don’t miss Fujiko Nakaya’s fog installation along Philosopher’s Walk.

Go along Harbord, taking in the exhibits at Hart House. Detour back to University and College and stop by the MaRS building for La Grande Experience, a spectacular group of French art and installation. Continue the Euro-vibe with the videos in the garden of the Italian Consulate at Beverly and Dundas. Then, bypassing the AGO, head over to OCAD taking in any or all of our top picks for Zone B (some tours, a performance or two.) Tour the OCAD building to see the works by the school’s top alumni, including David Rokeby, Joanne Tod and Ian Carr-Harris.

Then head down to Queen Street West. Here you can start at Queen and Tecumeth where Susan Hobbs Gallery will be serving pizza at 11 pm. Head west along Queen, making sure to stop by the window projections at Katherine Mulherin and the two car wash installations. Drop by for a wet or dry experience at the pool in Trinity Bellwoods park before heading down to Istvan Kantor’s performance and the Peter Mettler show at Greener Pastures. Finally, crash on a sofa at the Drake.
