VoCA recommends…Zone A
The curated projects in Zone A (Yorkville and surrounding area) should be fantastic this year. Curated by Rhonda Corvese, who won the Untitled Art Award for Emerging Curator last year, the zone includes pieces off Yonge Street, in Yorkville and around King’s College and the University of Toronto.
1. JENNIFER MARMAN/DANIEL BORINS: EVENT HORIZON, 2007
What to expect: A commotion, a large-scale ruckus. Has a bomb gone off? Is it a crime scene?
Where: Front Campus, U of T, 15 King’s Colllege Circle
2. WILLIE DOGHERTY: NON-SPECIFIC THREAT, 2004
What to expect: A video of threatening intensity, Dogherty’s work is unflinching in it’s power.
Where: The Burano Development Site, 832 Bay St. at Grenville

3. SARA GRAHAM: CANARD DEVELOPMENT GROUP, 2007
What to expect: Torontonians are all too familiar with development corporations. But this one has a roof about to float away..
Where: Courtyard at McKinsey & Co, 110 Charles Street West
4. ADRIANA KUIPER: METROPOLIS, 2007
What to expect: Are you claustrophobic? No? Are you sure? Find out here…
Where: MintoUrban Communities Inc., Charles St. and St.Thomas Streets
Also Annesley Hall at Victoria College, 95 Queen’s Park
5. NEWMINDSPACE: STRING OF DIAMONDS, 2007
What to expect: If you enjoy the starry, starry night, you’ll love String of Diamonds.
Where: Trinity College Field, 15 Devonshire Place, U of T
