Last week, it was brought to VoCA’s attention that the student exhibition at the Agnes Etherington Arts Centre wasn’t the only game in town – click HERE for that post.

The Salon des Refuses is an exhibition mounted in response by some students to the “curatorially exclusive” What Have You Done? exhibition at the AEAC. The show features work by Philippe Baud, David Bayly, Cleah Bunting, Krzysztof Doniewski and Su Sheedy.

They say, “Unfortunately in 2007 the AEAC, which is closely allied with the Department of Fine Arts and situated on campus almost directly across from it, ceased their support of this all inclusive graduation show.”
Which begs the question, does the AEAC owe the students a non-curated, all-inclusive graduation show? How did they expect the excluded artists to respond?
Judging by the images, VoCA expects this show to be rather creative and good!

The Salon des Refuses runs from March 26 – 19 at Studio 22/Open Gallery. Click HERE for location and more info on the show.
