News: Ontario Government Supports the Arts

Well that really is news!

“Premier Dalton McGuinty’s government is providing extra funding for the Ontario Arts Council over the next four years: $5 million a year, for a total of $20 million.

That means that for its 2009-2010 operations, the provincial arts council will have almost $60 million to distribute to hundreds of individual artists and cultural organizations – the most money it has ever been allocated.”

Didn’t the government just recently give to major institutions like the AGO and the ROM, among several from an overflow of funds..? (Globe & Mail)
