Here is the first group of finalists, (in - almost - alphabetical order.) The second and third groups of finalists will come in the next few days…winner to be announced by Governor General Michaelle Jean in September 2008 before the works head off on a national tour.

Thanks for posting this — I am totally biased and think Drew Simpson should win!
It’s a shame the image of Drew’s work doesn’t do the painting justice.
I love Amanda Reeves’ work, her sensitivity to colour and space is remarkable. I agree with the previous post in that it is difficult to assess painting from images on a screen. I look forward to seeing all of the work in person before passing too much judgment, but I do think Amanda should take it.
