I’m pretty excited to see that Emmy Skensved painting.
i have a problem with medium specific prizes.
With the exception of a few- there seems to be a very pared down aesthetic in this years choices…
I like the Justin Stephens one. What does VoCA think or are you reserving judgement?
If there are any sneaker heads on the judging panel, I think we know who will take it.
But honestly, these images are terrible. I reserve judgment until I see them in person. (My vote on the Vancouver longlist stands– Collin Johanson).
I know the images aren’t great. That’s what they sent me…
And you get the general idea..hopefully.
Oh yeah, I saw the credits and didn’t hold you accountable for them.
This also highlights for me a problem throughout the art world of people trafficking in jpgs. Really, what do people hope to get out of a tiny, low res image? I sometimes wonder if the artists who benefit the most from this system aren’t the ones whose work stands up the least to close inspection.
I’m dying to see Emmy Skensved’s work - immensely talented.
i like the painting by justin stephens. it’s simple, yet evocative.
