Did you know that filmmaker David Lynch – besides being supremely handsome, in a vintage kind of way – is an excellent artist and musician? His work is haunting and filmic with a vaguely Miguel Barcelo air to it, with a dash of Arte Povera…but that’s being unfair. He’s an original.

His exhibition last year at the Fondation Cartier in Paris, titled The Air is on Fire and recent installation at the Cartier Dome in Miami prove that he’s on the art world’s radar, and the timing couldn’t be better.
Incidentally, the Fondation Cartier is one of VoCA’s favorite art spaces, for the exhibitions and for Jean Nouvel’s stunning architecture.

Lynch lives the artist’s life, meaning that he brings art into every aspect of his life – unfortunately too a rare thing among today’s artists.

I highly recommend reading “Lynch on Lynch”. The focus is more on his film work, but he talks about his painting and visual art work as well.
